The Shift Towards Sustainability in Europe

It’s no secret that the current state of our environment is in jeopardy. The world we live in is threatened by the number of fossil fuels, toxic materials, and pollution that fills the air, oceans, and landfills around us. The effects that these pollutants are having on our environment and climate change are becoming detrimental. While there has been a remarkable number of companies and people getting involved in eco-friendly efforts over the past decade, the rapid speed at which our climate is changing is becoming too big for anyone to ignore. It’s time to ramp up our efforts, and some countries are starting to take plausible actions. In Europe, socially-conscious investing has become increasingly popular, as funding is going towards companies that meet environmental, social, and governance criteria. We’re going to take a closer look into these efforts of sustainability, and how our global printing services align with these goals to reduce emissions and print responsibly.

Investing in Climate-Friendly Companies

In Europe. a network of investors and entrepreneurs, known as the LFCA has made it their mission to “marry ecological success with economic success” in the tech industry, according to the founder, Philippe Singer. This “sustainability clause” includes investing in companies that take a “green pledge” to reduce their carbon footprint, and holds the companies accountable.

A key factor of this clause is including measurable climate goals in the initial funding negotiations. This calls on firms to measure their carbon footprint, implement offset initiatives, and promoting the importance of environmental responsibility when interacting with clients and suppliers. This measure of accountability is what has intrigued many investors across the country to diversify their own portfolios to focus on climate-friendly firms. “It’s not just talk, but real action,” as Pär-Jörgen from Northzone states. More than 800 companies to date have joined LFCA, making $5.6 million in carbon-offset credit purchases thus far. While some may be skeptical of the validity of Carbon Credits, we believe that it’s a step in the right direction. There is always room for improvement, but taking these steps is a good start. We applaud these efforts that these investors are making, and are intrigued to see how it makes a difference as more companies join the project!

Environmentally Friendly Printing, Every Step of the Way

At AA Global Printing, environmentally responsible services have been at the core of what we do since inception, taking action every step of the way.  When it comes to eco-friendly printing, it’s crucial to consider the entire lifecycle; From the water used to harvest the trees, to the waste created during print, to the emissions released during transportation of materials, and what happens once the prints are used. Our team works to simplify the product, process, and packaging from the paper used, to binding, coating, and beyond. With our global locations, we’re able to print materials closer to where they’re needed, reducing the carbon emissions released during transportation.
