How is Offset Printing Beneficial?

Successfully selling a product is all about impressing customers from the beginning of a sales campaign, all the way until the final sale and their satisfaction. One of the first ways a potential customer sees your product might be through printed ads. The exterior packaging of a product can also make or break the customer's decision to complete the purchase. Having print work that looks great is a vital aspect of running a successful business, but what's the best printing method to use? One of the most common printing methods that has a great deal of benefits in both quality and cost is offset printing.

Printing Flexibility

Offset printing is one of the most flexible printing options in terms of the surfaces and shapes that can be printed on. Offset printing works on a wide variety of substrates, beyond just paper, like: canvas, fabric, plastics, and cardboard and a wide range of thicknesses and coatings. Your print can be done on a traditional flat surface or on nearly any shape you can imagine, including rounded surfaces with a method called “flexo”. Most commonly though, in most commercial printing applications, paper is used.

Cost Saving

When you have a large number of prints needed, offset printing is a very cost-effective way to go. Offset printing is very affordable for large quantities. The initial setup is a bit tricky, but once you have set up the equipment, printing is a breeze. The metal plates used for imaging have a long life-span, and larger volume orders actually come with a lower price tag. That means that the more you order, the more you save! Just keep in mind the cost of storing these materials if they are not used right away, or if they have become obsolete. (See more about “On-Demand-Printing” in future blog posts)

Time-Saving

Offset printing is fully computerized and deploys a great deal of automation. Pages and images are “burned” onto plates and are printed onto your substrate. Each metal plate is able to make hundreds of thousands or even millions of impressions, leading to a quick turnaround for the product. Orders that are of a higher quantity (and lower price) will be printed efficiently and get out to your customers in record time, especially if these are printed close to where they are needed, eliminating the need for long-distance shipping and customs delays.

Flawless Images Every Time

With offset printing, the person operating the printer has total control over each of the four-color (or more if special colors are used) plates and the ink flow. This leads to fewer mistakes and a flawless-looking image every time!
